Hip Hop Hangover

It's been so busy here & I didn't even get a chance to make my cards for the Hip Hop Challenges. I went to bed at 10:30 & then creativity hit me.... so I got back up & cranked out a couple simple cards. The 2nd one was a challenge it could only have one layer & that is so not me.... but it turned out ok.

This layout also uses one of my favorite Unity Stamps "always remember" is perfect for scrapbook pages. I might use it too much but it's so true. This is for the Flashback Friday Challenge this week a layout about dad. If you like to scrap your childhood I hope you will join us on the 2peas pub board.

The designers have been busy at the Everything Scrapp'n Blog this week taking turns revealing their creations & inspiring you. There is some great projects & even a video tutorial on there. Tomorrow is my day so I'm putting the finishing touches on my projects.

I have to take a moment to share.... October Afternoon (one of my favorite companies) is having a giveaway on their blog. Details here.

Thanks so much for hopping over here during the Unity Hip Hop Hangover Blog Hop. I know you have been getting a lot of inspiration along the way. If you want to start it from the beginning head on over to the Unity Blog. If you need some stamps everything is 30% off this weekend (discount code "HAPPY") - wish I had some extra money but I've got to start saving for CHA.... Florida here I come!

Have a great weekend!

A New Week

The Unity Kit of the Month Blog Hop was so fun. I finally finished it on Sunday. Blog after blog was filled with inspiration.

I placed an order on Thursday & it was here at my door on Monday -- wow that is some super service & one of the many reasons I love Unity Stamps. I have lots of new stamps to create with. Just in time for some cards I need to make.

Doing a one day challenge is so much easier than the month long....

I used the random.org number generator

The RAK winner is # 26

Congrats Fiber Junky please email me at sgray110 at gmail dot com with your address.

Everything Scrapp'n has some new Creative Imaginations products in stock. They are 15% off along with the new Queen & Company. Check the blog for photos & more info - click here

I didn't have as much creative time over the weekend as I'd planned... so what little time I did have I created this layout. I've been doing a challenge over at the Scrap Nook. I love using 12x12 diecut shapes for a layout anyway but this challenge was to make your own.

The shape was based loosely on the blue ribbons Grace would win. The title "Her Name is Gracie, She was a Show Girl" came from the Barry Mannilow song "Copacabana". I had just picked up my new Jenni Bowlin products at my local scrapbook store EMI Scrapbooking - it's the perfect color & addition to this layout. Well I'm crossing my fingers that I will win the extra points this time. I sure need them since I'm in the middle of the pack right now.

A fellow scrapbooker asked for our help... she needs votes to win one of those fantastic desks by the Original Scrapbox. You can vote daily here. Ashjoy's creation is number 303

Wow what a desk!

Here is a photo of her project

Well hope you have a great week & take some time to be creative.

Busy Day

So today is going to be one of those days filled with running errands & housework... Sure I'd rather be doing something else but it has to be done.

I'd rather be:

gardening

working on a layout

visiting blogs & forums
talking to a friend

Oh well the sooner I start the sooner I'll finish...

Here's a layout I completed using a photo of my mom going to her sr. prom.

The titlework is made with the Cricut Storybook cart. I did my favorite technique of cutting 4 from inexpensive kraft cardstock from Hobby Lobby & adhering them together. I tried to cut a 5th layer from Bazzill but it was too intricate & was tearing big time so I decided to just ink the top layer with some Tim Holtz distressed inks. It turned out better than what I had planned. Don't you love when that happens?

Forgot the supply list.... thanks Karen Sue for reminding me....
Cardstock (Paper Resources); Paper (Prima - brown, K&CO - pink & cream & Webster's Pages - under titlework); Flowes (Prima & Hero Arts); Tags (Tim Holtz); Inks (Tim Holtz, Ranger & Colorbox); Stamp (Studio Calico); Titlework (Cricut Storybook); Punch (Martha Stewart EK); Thread (Coats & Clarks); Ribbon (Misc Vintage); Trim (Hobby Lobby & Webster's Pages); Buttons (Misc Vintage stash); Pearls (Hero Arts)

I wanted to let you know about a new group. It started on facebook & now it is on the ing boards. I'm loving the ing groups that I've been joining lately. Paperclipping is over there & it's nice to have gallery/forum/blogs etc all in one place with live chat added too. So the new one is Scrapbooking & Crafting Friends. I started a couple groups on there about 2 of my favorite scrapbooking topics (all you regulars are shaking your heads) say it with me.... heritage & my childhood yay you guessed it. I hope you will join me over there for some inspiration.

Well thanks for visiting today.
Take some time for yourself to be creative... whatever that means to you.

A New Week Begins

We sure have been getting a lot of much needed rain here. Seems our new dog Lady is totally freaked out by thunder storms. Even with some xynax she is still shaking like a leaf with her eyes bugging out & all 50 lbs of her sitting on my lap -- not too enjoyable at 4 am when you are sound asleep.

Hope you all had a great mother's day.

Here's a project I made for a challenge at The Scrap Nook. It was inspired by a fantastic layout by Leah Killian. You can see her layout here.
Just some photos of what is blooming in my garden right now. With so much going on in the layout I kept it simple with the embellishing. The center is 4 cricut cut 5" circles that I did my faux chipboard sandwiching & covered it with a circle of canvas from the home dec section of Joanns.
Supplies:
Paper (Crate); Cardstock (Bazzill); Flowers (Hero Arts); Brads (Heidi Swapp); Ribbon (The Paper Studio Hobby Lobby); Alpha (American Crafts); Trim & Canvas (Joanns); Thread (Coats & Clarks)
You know how much I love a good online crop. Well there's one coming up over at Scrapperie this weekend. Here's the details:
Come join us at Scrapperie this weekend as we celebrate with our Spring Into Summer Crop!
Starting at noon on Thursday, May 14th, we'll have challenges, games and some other fun surprises to keep you scrapping all weekend long. The majority of the challenges will be listed Thursday and Friday, but all crop challenges won't be due until Monday night at midnight- so you'll have plenty of time to finish them.

Creative overload

I had such a great time NSD weekend. That in addition to the week long Unity Stamp celebration had be in a creative frenzy. It was exciting to see some online friends winning great prizes! A fellow pea Stacey Michaud (she's so sweet & keeps up with my blog) won a 6 month subscription to Studio Calico kit club. Check out her blog for some amazing layouts to inspire you.

Just a quick post today another rainy day here in Georgia with lots more coming this way. I'm doing the LOAD challenge with Lain this month so I want to make sure I don't miss a day...
This layout about our new family member was made with scraps I received during a scrap swap over atPaperclipping.com. Kim (kdgirl) sent me some beautiful stuff. I added the Pink Paislee paper & Tim Holtz tickets. I just loved that turquoise paper she sent & I had requested a certain paper that I couldn't find local... Kim was so sweet that she gave me something similar in that cutout darker paper. I have lots more to use on future projects. Thanks Kim!
Speaking of Paperclipping.com Noell has a new show that will be starting in a couple weeks. It's a joint venture with Nancy Nally of Scrapbook Update. It will be an industry news show for the scrapbookers. Should be interesting & informative.
Hip Hop Thursday tomorrow at Unity Stamps... check out the blog for more details tomorrow at 11 am central time. There's lots of rubber given away each week....
Have a great Wednesday & remember to take some time to do something creative.

What a Great Suprise

I enjoy participating in the LOAD - Layout a Day group on Two Peas in a Bucket.

Everyone is so talented & inspiring. They were so welcoming when I joined & immediately I felt at home.

Last week was the 3rd Anniversary/Birthday Celebration. Lots of former LOAD members stopped by & we all thank DEANNA (a.k.a. scrappin-grandma http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/userprofile.asp?user_id=57636) for all the work she does posting the thread daily, coming up with great questions of the day & being so sweet to all of us.

Deanna gave away a prize to one lucky LOAD participant last week. One entry for each layout posted. The winner would receive a 2 peas Gift Certificate. Who wouldn't want that!

Well I was the winner! I couldn't believe it & was so excited. I received an email from 2 peas saying that a gift certificate had been posted to my account in the amount of $20! Wow Deanna you are so generous, talented, sweet, etc..... THANK YOU SO MUCH!

If you're looking for a fun place to be inspired, encouraged, & uplifted join in the fun. Here's the thread for today.... http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=2767030

P.S. Don't feel you can't join if you're afraid of not scrapping every day. We don't crack the whip or hunt you down.... lol. You'll be surprised though how addicting it is & you will post more than you think.
