A Couple of Toots

Last night I won a premium membership subscription to http://www.paperclipping.com/! I was very excited about this because I really have learned a lot about design the last couple months from watching Noell create layouts & discuss design concepts. So I'll get to go back and see all the old podcasts along with the premium member videos.

I also had a card picked up on Scrapbook News & Review ezine.
This will be my first pub in anything besides the Scarlet Lime Newsletter so that was a really big deal for me.....

I've submitted several layouts to "real" magazines too but I know it's hit or miss.

Also seen the official announcement on http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=2635222 about the Wausau paper prize!

BIG congratulations to the winners of the Wausau Paper contest recently held here at Two Peas. Enjoy all of your goodies!

Professional Grand Prize: Lisa Falduto
Hobbyist Grand Prize: Jennifer Sirios
First Prize: Susan Gray

Congrats to the other winners!!!!

A Scrap Happy Day

Had a busy day running around doing errands, doctor appointment & stopped at my fav LSS. Loads of new stuff to play with!

I took my Garden album up there to show it off along with some layout...

I came home & checked 2 peas gallery main page to see the layout of the day. Such a cute baby layout today.... then I saw my Garden album in the top 10 most viewed! That just tickled me to death! http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/top10.asp?ot=LAY&t=vi Thanks everyone for my first top 10 list!

It's crazy I was isolated in my own little scrapping world & then I found this fantastic online community where everyone is so nice & encouraging.... there's so many great products (my wallet & hubby aren't so happy about that part).... and I am so thrilled to be a scrapbooker just like when I first started or when the boys were small......

Well thanks again y'all & have a great day!

Hugs,
Suz

Altered Heidi Swapp Dollar Tree Album

Last month when my Dollar Tree had the Heidi Swapp albums I was able to find only the green 9x9 size. They had a lot but I only bought 2 since I didn't know what I was going to do with it & not sure I even liked the color....

Last night I decided to alter the cover of one - if I messed it up it was only a dollar right? Well I loved the way it turned out and now wished I had bought all of them..... oh well live and learn right...

Here's the album for my garden layouts.
I used PVA to adhere the paper & letters. Then did a coating over the top of everything to make it more sturdy. Found the knob at Target (got the inspiration for that from Dedra Long).
Hope that gives you some ideas of what to do with the ones your bought too....

A Better Week?

Hi All,

Starting a new week - it's got to be better than last week... though with 2 cars broke down it's not off to a great start....

Friday I had my whole day planned out but my car had other plans.... after parking at the post office my car wouldn't start back up so I had to get my old "girl" towed to our mechanic who was out of town and would look at "her" on Monday.

I was heading up to Archivers for the make & take weekend and the free American Crafts tag/pen. My hubby dropped me off at my parents house to borrow a car but my Dad said he would just drive me to Buford. He gave me $20 & we BOTH made all the cards. It was too funny to see him stamping & adding bling. Wish I brought my camera for that one. He's very creative & he made the birthday card for himself by writing his birthday on the cake & it's now hanging on the fridge at his house. He thought the die cutting was so amazing! It just cracked me up!

Anyway today I tried to use our truck & didn't make it around the block when it started chugging & banging so thankfully got it back in the driveway.... I need to stay out of vehicles right now I guess.

I got an email from Christy at Scarlet Lime with the August Newsletter - MY LAYOUT WAS IN THERE!!! I am published!

Here's the link: http://www.scarletlime.com/Augustnews1.html

It's Monday so don't forget to check out Sudie's new scrapbook show on Ustream at 9:30 eastern time....... http://www.ustream.tv/channel/unkit-live

I'm forced to stay at home so I'll make the best of it by scrapbooking.....

I just finished this page about a wonderful place my grandfather (the piano player) worked at in the 70's. The Harry Lundberg School of Seamanship in Piney Point MD is special in my childhood memories.....

The journaling reads: "Grumpy played piano at the Harry Lundberg School of Seamanship; a mariners/Coast Guard school run by the Seafarers Union. It was like a military base with every need able to be met right on campus. This beautiful place was located on the Chesapeake Bay in Southern Maryland. Paul Hall built the union & the facility to be a world in itself. The students were young & old alike some starting in the field & others taking refresher courses. But all who were there knew what a special place it really was.

Grumpy played every evening in a first class restaurant. We were able to stay as long as we wanted. During the day he was treated to everything there was to offer. I remember watching a movie in a luxury theater on a ship. All our meals were provided by outstanding chefs in the culinary program. Mr. Hall believed in allowing the students to blow off steam with recreational activities on site in a controlled environment. There was a golf course, swimming pools, fishing/crabbing along the shore & by boat, bicycling trails along the water, pool tables, bowling alley and first class accommodations. My sister and I were treated like little princesses by everyone there.

Some of my best childhood memories were at Piney Point. On base you got around by golf cart. I drove for the first time there; boy did I think I was grown up. In the evenings when we would dress up for dinner & to watch Grumpy play the bar tender would fix me a Shirley Temple drink. Grumpy never failed to dedicate a Carpenter’s song to me each evening. We could go to the PX to shop for candy or choose a book at the library. "

Hump Day

Cleaning up my house a little today. Anything to stay indoors. My garden is wilting in the midday sun. It's so hot here that it feels like I can "wear the air". The heat index is 108 right now!

Finished my inchies for the swap on 2peas. They are much harder than ATCs. The stamps I thought I could use were too big so had to get a little creative. I have some other ideas for the next one.

This layout of Rosie was done for a challenge on http://creativescrappers.blogspot.com/ using a sketch by Scrappy Donna. Thanks for the inspiration. The flower is hand stitched with embroidery floss. The purple flowers are from Making Memories & the felt is from Joann's $1 spot. Other supplies for this one include: Paper (Basic Grey); Cardstock (Bazzill & Heidi Grace); Stamps (Scarlet Lime & Inkadinkado); Ribbon & Button (stash); Tag (EK); Ink (Ranger)

Finished up some cards last night

I have been working on some sketches too. I have some different ideas for my blog. I'm thinking certain topics on certain days. Tuesdays will be shopping deals. I am working on some tutorials for later in the week & maybe a monthly challenge with prizes.

I participated in the 2peas lunch chat with Mel & won the $5 gift certificate! Check out that forum this Friday.

Also for Friday around noon eastern time http://www.scrapclubs.com/ does a live broadcast showcasing kits. Following that part which is recorded for a podcast Terri does an informal chat, show & tell, work on project, organization, anything scrap related..... that's the best part. Join us for a great time.

Today I'm working on a new mini album & some layouts for pub calls.

Stay "cool"

Tuesdays Shopping Deals

Hi All

Thought I would post some deals I found this week.

Hobby Lobby has:

American Craft D Ring 12x12 albums on sale 50% off so less than $9 each. I know I'm late to get on the bandwagon with these.... as usual.... since I have chunky pages these are THE BEST albums. Slowly going to replace my old ones.

Inque stamp sets are 50% off so bought 2 for $11.99 (these are super nice - have never bought a set of them before. Very clear image - unmounted rubber stamp with case & pad to stamp on.
The green set has images similar to the Fancy Pants set I've been wanting but hesitated because of the price.

Went to Michaels to get the Scrapbook Trends magazine since Dedra said I would be able to use the coupon. I love that magazine but usually don't buy it because of the cost. She had 2 designs in the August issue - both are amazing!

Here is the charm I designed for the Green/Pink charm swap on 2peas. My first charm swap & it was lots of fun to make - can't wait to see what I get back.

Working on my inchie swap for 2peas & now an ATC one on Splitcoast stampers. I love getting things in the mail and all these are firsts for me so super excited......

Well hope you all have a great day!
Suz
