Scrapbooking My World

Hello,

I've really been busy scrapbooking since finding the new stores nearby. It's really sparked my creativity. I like doing digital scrapbooking because there is no supplies to drag out and put away but I will always love the cut and paste and all the "stuff" that goes along with traditional scrapbooking.

My friend in Baltimore sent me a wonderful birthday present! Enclosed were some fantastic stickers, metal embellishements, papers and a giftcard for Archivers and I was able to purchase some clear stamps, Prima flowers (I just love them), some 12x12 diecut tags - what they call the paper with the scallop edges, and some other embellishments. I tried to pick things that were more like tools that would last rather than papers but then I thought I could remember the gift just as well when I look at the completed layout and remember she gave that to me. I love her dearly for the thoughtful gifts. God has blessed me with her friendship for so long I can't imagine my life without her. She is a treasure to me - the person I can always count on, trust with anything, and is such an inspiration to me....

Well thought I would post a couple of layouts. Most my current ones are on the my twopeas site. I am still trying to figure out how to take a better digital picture of my tradional 12x12 layouts to upload on the site. I'd welcome any suggestions. One gal told me she scans 2 parts and merges them together but it lost me.... Anyway I can see my style evolving just in the last month for the better. Thanks to everyone at Twopeas for their inspiration and encouragement especially with the digital since I'm so new to it and still learning PS.

It's been a good week

I call it a good week because my health has been pretty good this week and I've been getting in a lot of scrapbooking time! I just love that Archivers store in Buford. I went up there on Monday with a picture that I just didn't know what to do with. One of the gals who worked there was so helpful and directed me to a couple of different options. (The picture was taken at our Sunday School class Christmas party. I didn't know we were having pictures taken. I like the shirt I'm wearing but it didn't quite go with the background.) After coming home and playing around with the papers I decided on this one.

I'm not really sure how to capture a traditional scrapbook layout with the digital camera so sorry for the poor quality picture.

I also found this orange scalloped edge paper that I fell in love with and remembered this picture of my first communion in the 70s and thought it would look great and help a really poor quality picture that had deteriorated.

I've added a bunch of traditional scrapbook layouts to my twopeas site http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/userprofile.asp?user_id=350865 so I wouldn't put too many in both places.
While up in Buford I went to the scrapbook outlet across the street. She has some really good prices and it's worth the hunt.
I hope to take a class up at Archivers this month with a friend. I'd like to take the Valentine card one.
I've been working on organizing my scrapbooking workspace. If anyone has any hint or things that work for them let me know. I'm trying to do it on a budget. I've seen amazing spaces out there but they just aren't realistic for me. I've had trouble being organized since I lost my craft/office/sewing room when my son moved back home. I'm so glad he is with us so I'm not complaining but I had a lot of stuff and now it's just everywhere out in the common areas instead of in my little purple world....
Well thanks for looking. Have a blessed day!

Had a great weekend of scrapbooking

Friday I tried to visit the scrapbook store grand opening nearby and after driving all the way down there found she still wasn't open due to carpet not going in. I had my heart set on getting some new paper and embellishments that are different (Hobby Lobby has a great selection but only goes so far and Michaels and Joanns are very limiting to my "creative spirit" ha ha) anyway I got out my cell phone and launched the internet and typed scrapbook stores Buford Ga because I had heard there might be one up there and up pops a store so I head that way to check it out.

I walk in and am floored with the amount of supplies to fill idea that pops into my mind. They had rooms to scrap for free. Everyone was so nice and helpful... I didn't know where to begin. I kept my budget in check (it was hard) and walked thru the entire store first then headed back to the clearance section for a further look before looking at the regular priced products. I found a wonderful tote bag to hold all my stuff when I am "mobile". I have one of those big rolling totes but that's too much to take to work on a page or two when most of the tools are available to use there. Anyway it was 75% off so I couldn't pass it up. I then checked out the clearance paper and got a couple sheets. I needed some of those flowers you put the brads thru and found just what was in my imagination for the pages I'm going to start. There was a round scalloped paper in black dots and red outline that I fell in love with so couldn't pass that up. I really like the scallop edges and purchase 3 different ones. I could get cardstock in any color imaginable! Finally a yellow that isn't horrible... I spent less than $30 and was pleased with my new stuff. I can't wait to go back there. It's funny when I am at home and google scrapbook stores Buford GA this store does not pop up so I was glad I decided to use the cell phone and found Archivers Photo Memory Store. http://www.archiversonline.com/index.asp I came home and found a coupon so I guess I'll have to go back in the next week or so to use it. I want to visit the outlet scrapbook store that is up there on the other side of the mall road http://www.maps2memories.com/Webpages/Georgia/ysbcstore2/ysbcstore2.htm

so I guess I'll make a day of it. I wish I had a friend who liked to scrapbook. It would be a great outing.

I've got so many ideas for valentine cards so that will be my next project and products I will look for.

I worked on several digital pages and 2 traditional pages - it's been a nice weekend of scrapbooking for me. I would have done more but had to work on the directory for our Sunday School class that I had been putting off since I lost my hard drive last month and the backup disc was in the computer at the time and for some reason (because Word was open using the directory files) it corrupted them too. I would never have expected hard drive failure in a computer that is less than 6 weeks old but it can happen to anyone. I had scanned so many pictures and PS them along with all the ones I downloaded from the camera and then deleted them. Thankfully I had prints made of most of them so it wasn't a total loss except for my time. I lost about a dozen pages I had worked on but learned my lesson and for Christmas received an external hard drive and back up often. I'm "chasing rabbits" so back on the topic I started this paragraph with... anyway I love to sit at the computer and discover new things I can do in Photoshop it is a truly remarkable program.
I just love going thru all the old pictures: cleaning them up", finding just the right paper and bling to do it justice, and putting my ideas on the computer screen. It is bliss to me! The page above is a picture of me at age 4, my mom pregnant within days of giving birth to my sister and my grami (mom's mom). I loved how the paper brought out the colors in the old picture. Let me know what you think . . . suggestions greatly appreciated.

Scrapbooking Today
I am new to the digital scrapbooking but really LOVE it! It's so easy to work on a page without having to drag out all the paper, embellishments, stickers, supplies and then stop in enough time to put it all away when you are scrapping traditional. Don't get me wrong I would never give up my cut and paste. I am a hands on person and really like doing that but I think there is room in my world for both.I can't wait until the 11th we have a new scrapbooking store opening up near the house. All 4 of the ones I used to go to closed and this will be great to have as an option again.
